Getting Started
New Player Recall Point - This is where you'll
arrive after creation. You will recall here until
level 6. Type look to see which direction to go in. If you’re completely
new to muds it is recommended to go north (type n) to the mud school which will teach you
the commands to get you started.
Seeing who else is logged in – Type who, Immortals
are in green, Mortals in white. Players with +++ next to their name are newbie helpers and will happily help you
if you get stuck.
Viewing stats and information – Type score to see
your level, attributes, practices and trains.
Type worth to see your wimpy and panic level. Type affect (or showaffect)
to see if you are affected by any spells.
Your starting experience – You have 10 pracs
(practice sessions) and 5 trains to start with so find your guild teacher to use these. It is recommended that you
practice your weapon skill first, to learned (75%). If you are a spell casting class, practice a
realm or sphere that will help you to get a spell (type cspinfo <class> to see what spells you can
get). If you are a fighting class practice one of your fighting skills. Scan is a useful
skill to practice as this will help you to see monsters before walking into a room.
You gain hitpoints when you level, but if you have
under 5 hitpoints it is advisable to train this once or twice. If you are a spell casting class it is best to train
memory and reasoning (to above 60 as this is when the benefits start to occur), to help you to
learn skills and spells quickly. If you are a fighter class, train strength first to do the most
damage quickly.
Checking inventory – Type i (inv) to see what’s in
your inventory. Type eq (equipment) to see what you are currently
wearing. Type wear all, to wear everything in your inventory, and wield <weapon> and second <weapon> to use your weapons.
Rules apply to newbies too – Read these so you have
an understanding of what is expected and unacceptable on Myridian Fields. See help rules.
